April 2012 - Leading USA scientist Dr Javed Khan visits the Tumour Bank

It was with great pleasure that The Children's Hospital at Westmead Tumour Bank was visited by a leading USA based researcher, Dr Javed Khan. Dr Khan comes from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Bethesda, Maryland in the USA. The NIH is one of the world's foremost medical research centres housing some 5000 research scientists.

The Tumour Bank staff were pleased to welcome Hannah and James Irvine and family to their bank and research laboratory in the Children’s Hospital at Westmead, to view Hannah’s Year 12 major artwork.

It was an exciting week for the Tumour Bank members, when Dan Catchpoole, Amanda Rush, Albert Chetcuti, and Kerrie Jones flew to the other side of Australia to attend the 2011 ABNA Conference in Perth. This is one of the most exciting conferences that the Tumour Bank attends.

In mid-October the Australasian Microarray and Associated Technologies Association (AMATA) held its 2011 annual conference showcasing the latest advances in Next-Generation sequencing and other high-throughput technologies.
